The Dallas Mavericks officially reopened their practice facility on September 22, 2026, following a five-month offseason renovation. The project was designed to boost player performance, recovery, and team building with significant upgrades across the complex.
CEO Rick Welts emphasized the facility's role in building a championship organization. "A great practice facility is essential to building a great basketball organization," Welts said. "This investment reflects our ownership's commitment to our people and to competing for championships."
The renovation added two 18-foot-by-5-foot windows to the main practice court, bringing in natural light for the first time. Player wellness was a major focus, with a new custom infrared sauna featuring eucalyptus hardwood walls that can reach 170 degrees.
The players' lounge was expanded by 50 percent. It now includes a vinyl-record wall, a sneaker display for player editions, and custom furniture scaled to the team's average height. An expanded dining area features a 100-square-foot skylight, an 11-foot Ficus tree, and a 140-square-foot preserved-moss mural.
A central part of the redesign is the launch of the Champions Performance Kitchen. This program is a collaboration with the award-winning 50 Eggs Hospitality Group, led by Culinary Director John Bauer. It provides restaurant-caliber meals and personalized nutrition for players, coaches, and staff.
The culinary team now produces everything in-house, from breads and sauces to fresh-pressed juices. This gives them complete control over ingredients and the nutritional profile of every meal. Ingredients are sourced seasonally, with a strong emphasis on Texas producers like Rosewood Ranches for Wagyu and Reeves Family Farm for produce.
Meals and smoothies are personalized in collaboration with the Mavericks' strength and nutrition coaches. The support extends beyond the facility to include air travel catering, road-hotel meals, and pre- and post-game dining. The program even works with players' personal chefs.
The 7,500-square-foot renovation was managed by Cumming Group and Manhattan Construction Group. Design input came from the Mavericks organization and 50 Eggs Hospitality Group.
The facility unveiling comes as the team looks to build momentum. Their last game was a high-scoring 149-128 victory over the Chicago Bulls on April 13, 2026. However, their recent form shows a need for consistency, with a record of 1 win and 4 losses in their last five outings (WLLLL).
Those recent results include a 112-107 loss to the Phoenix Suns on April 9 and a 123-99 defeat against the Milwaukee Bucks on April 1. They also fell 137-131 to the Golden State Warriors on March 24 and 129-111 to the New Orleans Pelicans on March 17. A 130-120 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on March 15 is their sole recent victory.
The new facility aims to provide a daily advantage as the team prepares for the upcoming NBA season.
