The Dallas Mavericks are actively narrowing down their coaching search as the NBA Draft approaches in just eight days. Following the dismissal of Jason Kidd and the appointment of Masai Ujiri as team president and Mike Schmitz as general manager, the Mavericks are looking for a fresh start. Currently, they are one of only two teams still searching for a head coach after Tiago Splitter took the helm of the Chicago Bulls. NBA insider Marc Stein reported several candidates under consideration for the Mavericks' coaching position. Micah Nori, an assistant coach with the Minnesota Timberwolves, has been a prominent name in coaching circles since his time with the Toronto Raptors and other teams. Royal Ivey, currently with the Houston Rockets, has transitioned from a successful playing career to coaching, emphasizing defense which aligns with the Mavericks' roster needs. Jama Mahlalela, who has strong ties to Ujiri from their time in Toronto, could also be a contender. Tony Dobbins, an assistant with the Boston Celtics, has quickly risen through the ranks and could bring fresh energy to the Mavericks. Lastly, Terry Stotts, a former head coach with a successful track record, is also in the mix. As the Mavericks continue their search, the pressure mounts to secure the right leader before the draft.
